Henry Lawshe’s Will

 

To my wife, Mary, use of during time she remains my widow or until the time that my son, Henry D. Lawshe, and my daughter, Mary E. Lawshe arrive at the age of twenty-one, should she remain single until that time, use of homestead farm and personnel estate.  At the end of that time, widowhood, or children 21, sell personnel estate, homestead farm bounded by lands of Gideon Moore, David Moore and others 96 acres from Isaac Poulson and Hannah his wife.

 

3rd: $1300 in trust at interest and pay annuity to wife, Mary and in the case of her marriage to pay the same notwithstanding into her hands or to her order only, not to or to order of husband.

 

4th: discharge sons Isaac, David and Abraham from payment of any charges for outfit or advances.

 

5th: to my son Henry D. Lawshe $374.00

 

6th: to my daughter Mary E. Lawshe $370.00

 

7th: to my daughter Rachel A. Lawshe $374.00

 

To be on interest and paid at 21 or on her wedding day.

 

“Those three sums as herein given to my three youngest children is intended to make my said children’s shares equal in value with my three other children that have had advances to that amount.”

 

8th: Residue equal shares “to my six children viz: Isaac Lawshe, David Lawshe, Abraham Lawshe, Henry D. Lawshe, Mary E. Lawshe, and Rachel A. Lawshe.”

 

9th: after death of wife, Mary, $1800 and interest if any to children, or to their children if dead.  Wearing apparel to four sons.

 

10th: three sons, Isaac, David, Abraham executers, May 27, 1831.
